New 3d warehouse search engine has problems

So I use the 3d warehouse right out of the program, not a browser, just so you know from the start.
Since the last update to the warehouse search options, (around beginning of 2017) I've had serious trouble. I start typing in the search field, and the dropdown menu often won't let me type anything besides what it's predicting that I want to search for. Hope you understand what I'm saying.

If you look at the screenshot, I had typed out "trough sink" in full, yet the search engine predicted that I was searching for "trs" and backspaced all the other letters.
Obviously, this is immensely annoying.

I use the app to create 2d floor plans often.

I use 3d warehouse to download 2d fixtures,furniture and the like.

It appears that all the 2d items have beed purged from the 3d warehouse.

WHY???

For example try typing 2d toilet. Only 3d models now come up.

I've created quite a few details and uploaded them over the years, but they are no longer available to me as a user of this 13 yr old software. I'm on a different computer than when I was working, so old backups are not available.

Hey guys, I'm new to Sketchup and I don't know if I made a mistake or what but after downloading a 3D Warehouse Model, it won't load. But I made sure that the download was complete. I still don't know if I did something wrong or is it just Sketchup malfunctioning? My Sketchup version is 2015 by the way.

Can't download from Warehouse. getting Terms of Use popup and the 'By Clicking Here, I accent The Above Terms' will not WORK!

I am a Sketchup Make 2017 user. I could previously download from the 3D warehouse with no problem.

I tried to download from the 3D warehouse today within the Sketchup app and I get the TERMS of USE pop-up and there is a button at the bottom that indicates to Click it to accept the Terms. I click it and nothing happens. It is even hard to see if the button is grayed out or not.

I am obviously signed in as I am in Sketchup doing my modeling and trying to access the warehouse within the app.
I also tried going outside the app to the 3D warehouse and signing in separately. Still same problem.

What is happening?

Model author credit incorrect

@coldcanuck wrote:

On the advice of one of the forum sages, I had decided to configure all my model's author credit feature with my user name.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that, out of the 158 models in my account, two thirds of them already had a username.
Nathan

I don't know of any Nathan and he sure didn't build of my models, including one of my own house.
I spent part of yesterday and today replacing the models with the original files (after having saved my own username to each), but my real concern is how did this happen?

I change my account password on a semi-regular basis and I never use the totally secure "password".
I am the only one to have access to this PC.

While my situation does appear to be similar to another posted question by "josemanuelvirella", the difference is that these models never left my account.

So does anyone have an idea what happened?

Cheers,

C.C.

Up until last night (2/23/2017), I was able to download models without a problem. Tonight when I try to download a model it will not download but switches to something called "Load download & View Statistics". I can not seem to download the models I would like to.

Any Ideas why this may be happening or what I can do to get back to downloading the model?

Thanks in advance.

Various uses for the 3D Warehouse

Continuing the discussion from Simplifying 3Dwarehouse models for use as entourage:
@john_mcclenahan and @NewThinking2 briefly discussed uses for the 3D Warehouse (3DW) in the above linked discussion thread. I thought I'd chime in with another use: Sharing work in progress!

I just uploaded a model to the 3DW:

It's in no way complete, but I've got a couple of CAD/CAM cabinetmakers (not part of this forum) interested in how I'm using SketchUp to do preliminary work before going to a CAD/CAM optimized modeler (in this case, I'll be going to Fusion360).

So, to refer back to the topic of this thread, one additional valid (I think) use for the 3D warehouse is to share work in progress.

Please feel welcome to chime in with your use case for the 3D warehouse.

Help! I goofed when I uploaded to 3D Warehouse!

@sjdorst wrote:

What I wanted: to upload a Dynamic Component to the 3DWarehouse (3DW) - as a dynamic component.

What I did: I uploaded the .skp file.

What I should have done: Sent it to the 3DW from within the Component Tray in SketchUp.

The result: The 3DW doesn't recognize it as a Dynamic Component(DC), and thus doesn't flag is as a DC. So it doesn't show up if, using 3DW advanced search you check the "Dynamic" field, nor if you use the "is:dynamic" tag in a standard search

I can't find a way to replace the model in the 3DW with exactly the same thing, but recognized as a DC. Yes. I could delete the initial upload, then upload it again correctly. It wouldn't take long! But I've sent links out to the original upload and I'd like to find a way that that already shared link will take the person clicking it to the re-uploaded version.

Any ideas?

Today's Staff picked Models on the 3D Warehouse include models which are excessively large in poly count,materials and size (some of them 39MB).
It is frustrating when one say's 'keep the polgon count low' and developed a special program for this purpose and the other one is Picking model's like these.

3D Warehouse is blank - how to restore?

@jpkkld wrote:

Hi there,
Running Win10, Sketchup 2016 Home, IE11. It's a 32 bit computer and I have no plan to attempt to update to SU17. I've googled and tried a number of fixes, to no avail. When opening the Warehouse, either through SU or directly in IE11, I get a blank page with a couple of lines on it - so SOMETHIING is loading, just not the useful stuff.

I've used SU for years, and never seen this. I know others have had issues with other software versions, but this is a first for me.

So far, I've cleared cookies and cache, disabled addons, and started IE as admin. I've also restarted multiple times (not a quick process on this device). Since all the instructions tend to be for other versions of Windows, it's also taken too long to guess the Win10 sequence to get to the same place - right there is most of my frustration.

Anyone have anything else to recommend? I'm ready to dig out some graph paper, I'm so frustrated.

How many times does the Terms of Service have to be agreed too?
Every time I try to download a model, that pop up with the TOS comes up again. Everytime.

I know my models were not earth stopping, but I enjoyed sharing them. I thought that was the point.

Every newer version of Sketchup has that annoying "Welcome" screen.

Tremble has annoyed me right out of participating.

Not everyone wants to use the latest version of Sketchup. From what I've read on these forums, the latest version sounds very unstable. Why would I "upgrade" to a version that doesn't work? And half my plug-ins won't work?

New Feature Enables Material Downloads from 3D Warehouse

@MikeTadros wrote:

We recently launched a bunch of new features on 3D Warehouse (visit the SketchUp Blog for the full run down). Chief among the new stuff is an update to the Materials stat in the Model Details Page info panel. This stat is now clickable, and clicking it will reveal a fly-out panel that allows you to browse and download materials from the In Model material library. SketchUp 2017 users, who are browsing 3D Warehouse via SketchUp's embedded 3D Warehouse window, will see that SketchUp automatically activates the Paint Bucket tool when downloading a Material from 3DW. Here's a video that shows the process in action.

If you have thoughts about using 3D Warehouse as a go-to repository for downloading/importing materials into your SketchUp projects please feel free to share them here!

Thanks (& enjoy)!

3D Warehouse components are big

@owendenham wrote:

Hi all,

Certain components I download from the 3D warehouse are way too big when imported into the model. This LED is the right size, but this drumkit is about 6 metres tall.

I'm using the "woodworking" template, although surely that shouldn't make a difference.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks!
